Intellectual Property
- Taiwan (2004 - current)

In August 2004, American Institute in Taiwan proposed that ISDLS collaborate with the Government of Taiwan in its IP reform efforts. In October, ISDLS Executive Director Stephen Mayo and Program Director Dave Shlachter traveled to Taiwan to investigate the possibility of such a collaboration. The fruits of this trip came in the form of a recent IP seminar in Taipei in January 2005. District Court Judge Jeremy Fogel (Northern District of California) and Chief of the DOJ’s Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property Unit Christopher Sonderby gave presentations on the imperative of IP enforcement and mechanisms by which this enforcement can be achieved. Following the seminar, the Government of Taiwan, which has prioritized IP crime and has been making steady progress to harness this enormous problem, expressed a commitment to continue collaborations.
